Internet-video star Caitlin Hill, known online as TheHill88, received the National Art Club's most prestigious award in New York City this week. The Australian now joins such former "Medal of Honor" recipients as Tennessee Williams, Usher, Leonard Bernstein, Salvador Dali and Martin Scorsese. Ms. Hill, who received the first US Visa for her ability as a "web star," is Hitviews Chief Creative Office. Hitviews, which connects marketers to some of the most popular online-video stars, is backed by top entertainment executives including the co-founder of Miramax, a radio personality who introduced The Beatles at Shea Stadium, media leaders who discovered top show business talent, and pioneers who built radio, TV and movie institutions.

  • This guy rules!

  • I agree, also what he says about "it looks so easy". This applies to more forms of entertainment. You'd be surprised how many people think that actors in plays or musicians in bands just get on stage and play. They don't realize the work behind it because part of the art is to _make_ it look easy, and so it does look easy.

This is the same on internetvideo, nobody is looking for videos where you can see how hard someone is working. You want easy listening/viewing entertainment.

  • Bullshit. Allen Shaw doesn't know anything.

  • I'd have to agree with you... :)

  • Very well said. Allen Shaw has always been a sage for "what's next." He predicted the unbelievable success of FM radio in the late 60s and through the 80s when others said it would never beat AM Top 40. He also predicted that satellite radio would falter should it stray from its free-form style. They have and it is now stumbling.

It's encouraging to know he "sees" the same thing happening with this medium.

  • "andyissoweirdlike"! Warhol and McLuhan, this guy REALLY gets it!
