The people in this video deserve a cure, all people with type 1 diabetes deserve a cure. Please donate to the Diabetes Research Institute @ http://diabetesdiplomats.kintera.org/type1diabetesawareness

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. It occurs when the body's immune system attacks and destroys the beta cells (which are insulin producing cells located in the pancreas). Scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved. Type 1 Diabetes occurs in both male and female and can strike at any age. Insulin is life-sustaining medication but is not a cure. The onset of Type 1 Diabetes has nothing to do with the person's lifestyle or diet. Type 1 Diabetes requires constant attention. People with Type 1 Diabetes check their blood sugar multiple times a day, some even more than 10 times a day. It requires the person to take insulin injections or to use an insulin pump. It can not be prevented and at this time there is still no cure, but we have hope!!
