To people who thinks he is "stupid", "*insert negative word*" for doing this without ropes, he does it because he LOVES it and can do it! There was just a great 60 Minutes on him(that's why I searched Youtube vids on him), and before this he was always using ropes, until he felt he wanted to take the next step. He knows there are risks, and also knows that he will do free soloing until he no longer loves to do it. For very hard climbs, he does the course on rope for 2 or 3 days pre solo attempt.

He is flat out amazing, and deserves even more recognition, except he doesn't even seem to want any fame (maybe he just needs the money)! He really is gifted, and has found how to COMPLETELY unlock his talent (in my eyes). Right now I'm just a 'pretty' lazy 17 year old, compared to this guy, but I've been a competitive swimmer and waterpolo player much of my life, and love staying in prime shape, going for school records.But Alex makes my palms sweat, and he makes me want to start a new path

@Strauss2387 its not about the rest of the world for him.. its about the experience of doing it without ropes... knowing you can do something so majestic with your own body.. it must feel amazing.

I do play guitar with one hand though... i guess we can all do some crazy shit
