In the talk, Reasons for God - Belief in an Age of Skepticism, Pastor Timothy Keller of Redeemer Presbyterian Church explains how 1 Peter 3:15 - Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. - can also be applied to our own faith.

Later in the talk beyond feeling God, he gives the three reasons we believe or disbelieve in God. 1) Intellectual Arguments, 2) Interpreted Personal Experience, 3) Social Community

  • It was my repressing my doubts that led me to questioning my faith! I eventually dropped my faith and am glad I did!

  • @99minerkc Why repress your doubts and question your faith? You should question your doubts, test faith and reject and falsehoods.

  • @trafferazabu , By questioning my faith I was able to research early christian writings with a more objective mind. By doing that I was able to learn that the truth(as a whole) is not in religion including the bible at all! IF there is any truth to be found as far as I'm concerned it is by pushing any religious dogma to the side and seeing what's left to examine!

  • @99minerkc Okay. So let's push all away until we return to the Big Bang. The fine tuning of the universe to the extent required for us to exist must disturb an atheist mind. Strictly from a scientific basis it seems a creator was involved. Heck, that's why you have so many physicists turning deist if not theist.

  • @eyeztothesky YES BUT NOT THE CHURCH CHANGE ALL DENOMINATION CHANGE ONE WAY OR OTHER BECAUSE DOUBT NOT ONLY FAITH BUT PROCES AND INTERPRETATIONS...

  • @trafferazabu Not at all. You say fine tuning, but thats like commenting that every water molecule in a glass of water decides to co-operate and become level. Its about equilibrium, and besides, only in a universe capable of life would life emerge - the rest would simply be empty.

Scientists often use the term God - Like "looking into the mind of God" because it evokes a metaphor, not because they actually think they might one day go for a beer with him.

  • 1 John 2:19

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

  • @trafferazabu I wouldn't have any idea as to whether or not , "The fine tuning of the universe to the extent required for us to exist must disturb an atheist mind. " If you truly want to know I recommend that you ask an atheist! Also,, what evidence do you have to support your claim that a lot of scientists are turning to deism or theism? Why would statistics show a decline in christianity in the USA if you're correct?
