The Modest CD Player is a CD Player, that is designed based on the quite simple mental model: "I bring the media to player to listen to the music." It starts playing when CD is put on, and stops when remove.
Its design model, the actual process from sensing CD to playing the music, is invisible. On the other hand, its mental model is so apparent like automatic door that user never misses the way to use.
To design interface, "to make user reckoned he understands" is much better than "to make user understood".
Implementation
A webcam and a small switch are embedded in stage, which is connected to the PC invisible for user. When CD is put on, the custom-built software running on PC analyzes what that CD is and starts playing the MP3 music file on PC.
