Carl Sagan joins Einstein and Hubble in a trio of prestigious NASA Fellowships. The honor is based upon his proven scientific accumen, not his public outreach.

  • That's a great way to honor the memory of Carl Sagan, and it's a great way to keep the candle burning for the rest of humanity.

  • Carl Sagan was fucking awesome! He never gave up on his dream, and he inspired me to look deeper into cosmos and science. Not to mention the dude smoked weed and was still able to become one of science's greatest names.

  • @SaganAppreciationSoc Larry king Live on CNN. It was a special on UFOs or aliens or something, and there were a number of "expert" guests (some of them were coast to coast types argueing from ignorance.) Good luck.

  • @monokhem

What was the name of the show and when/where did it run? Maybe I can take find it.

  • @SaganAppreciationSoc I watched the whole hour long show and I understood the context. If you don't want to believe it whatever, but i know what he said, he said it repeatedly, and the meaning was clear.

  • @monokhem

That's the difference between scientists and Coast To Coast AM fans. The former DO think it's worth the effort to look at the facts.

If Bill said that, it was surely out of context, or a mis-statement. Or he may have be referring to specific cases for which more down to earth explanations have been found.

  • @SaganAppreciationSoc Generaly I really don't give a damn. You can think whatever you want about the man. I'm not going to do a bunch of reasearch to enlighten you about one more hack "scientist" out there. It isn't worth the effort.

  • @monokhem

Generally the person making the claim is the one who must provide the evidence.

  • @cosmicforums No, and I won't hunt down the quote for you. He said Aliens definatly have not visited us. It was on CNN. Hunt it down if you like, but I've already seen it when it happened. I have no belief one way or the other on Alien visitation, so I wasn't looking for something to be mad at sceptics over. He said it.

Standing your ground against the "possibility" of alien invasion is not the act of a scientist.

  • @monokhem - Wait, you claim he isnt a scientist because he thinks it is unlikely aliens visited this planet? Care to give me a link where he said "positively never visited Earth"? I would very much like to see this evidence. I am also aware that some people WANT aliens to exist so bad that if someone stands their ground against their possibility then alien believers can and will get very upset over it.

  • @cosmicforums Bill Nye is an ass. He's not a scientist as far as I am concerned. I saw him go on TV a state that Aliens had positivly never visited Earth. Ever sice then he's just a poor mans Ron Herbert, if Ron Herbert had been full of BS.

That he was on this video with these other great men was an insult.

  • I miss you Carl :(
