  • I wish I could hear the instructor talking. Would prefer that over the music.

  • 1leora: not true. I take pilates classes on the reformed in a group of 3 - 5 all the time. It is more economical than a private seesion and lots of fun.

  • @1leora - many studios offer classes in reformer with 4 - 5 people at a time.

  • Reformer is never taught in a large class setting like this... Only the Mat is done in large groups.

  • @apensiil I wonder how you managed to cure your problems. Almost every exercise shown in pilates stresses the back and neck to a dangerous level scientifically.

  • Maravilhoso,parabéns!

  • @lo739lu i am recovering from injury and serious neck-spine problems at the moment after the 1,5 years unsuccessful treatments. and i am recovering only thanks to the pilates reformer exercises i have done a little bit less than 2 months! fortunately i have a wonderful coach, i'd never reached here alone. i have done yoga before, when i was well, but i am not able to do it at the moment. so yes, it is very valuable exercises and they are definitely not only abs exercises.

  • i wish i have the money to afford reformer classes :(

  • @lo739lu, Just FYI, I teach Pilates and have a number of clients who are former gymnasts. They come to me for rehab. Pilates (and yoga) are great for preventative exercises, as well. Many of those clients tell me they wish they'd done Pilates while they were doing gymnastics, as the two compliment each other well and they perhaps could have avoided injury. On the flip side (sorry!) I have an older client who recently told me she did a cartwheel for the first time in years!

  • @lo739lu, check out "Pilates Sports Center, Advanced Pilates Cadillac Techniques". Look at the exercise when the client holds onto the straps, lifts up into a pike/teaser, flips up and over, and completely rotates around the shoulder girdle. Similar to rings. Joe Pilates also invented the apparatus to assist his clients in mat work. It's made of steel. So of course they can't move around as freely, but it was more to help rehabilitate injuries. Thanks for the debate! May the core be with you!
