Stevie Wonder breaks down whie playing "Lately" at the Bank of America Pavilion on 9/20/07, the end of his "A Wonder Summer's Night" tour.

At the beginning of the concert he had talked about how he was doing the tour for his mother, who had passed away in 2006, which he described as "the most painful day of my life". During this song it seemed to come to a head, and the lyrics took new meaning for him.

He recovered shortly after and rocked out for the rest of his two-and-a-half hour concert.

Apologies for the shakiness, especially at the end - it was getting really hard to hold the camera.

  • I absolutely love this man. What a beautiful spirit. I cried just watching him tear up. You can feel how much love his fans have for him by the way they fill in for him when he breaks down. What an incredible and inspiring human being. Thank you, Stevie--for giving so much of yourself to us. Godbless.

  • Sorry SuperStan105... I meant... You're an IGNORANT asshole...

  • In response to SuperStan105... Stevie Wonder is a musical legend who has given himself to his fans repeatedly over the years in good times and, as per this clip, in times of tragedy. If you're paying your supposed "hard earned dollar" to see a real and genuine performer be as about as real as it gets, then Stevie's the man. You don't give a shit about his personal life? Fine.. In the meantime, get one of your own 'cause I can sum you up in 4 words son. You're an asshole...

  • Stevie in questo concerto era in difficoltà credo per problemi personali la gente l'ha capito e sostenuto sTevie è unico e i fans come me lo amano Stevie tutta la vita!

  • @SuperStan105 If i'm paying my hard earned dollar I want to see him perform not cry like a fucking baby - like I give a shit about his personal life. Entertain me or get the fuck off the stage!

  • @lg123xyz your sick

  • I was there that night. It was the last night of the first tour he did after his mother passed away. He talked that night about her passing, and how he had stayed off of the road for awhile thereafter. He was clearly happy to be back performing, but this song clearly meant something, and it was a real moment. Glad his daughter was there to help him out at the end of the clip.

  • Stevie is a wonderful man, what good will come to Brazil this year. I'm just in love with him.

  • Makes me cry everytime, especially when the audience joins in. I love Stevie!
