Maurice Sendak's books, while beloved by kids, are complex meditations on history, psychology, and the power of the human imagination. Professor Seth Lerer, who won the 2008 National Book Critics Circle Award for criticism for his book "Children's Literature: A Reader's History", discusses the literary power of Maurice Sendak and other contemporary children's authors.
