  • Ever heard the racket a falcon 20 makes?

  • @reichec the only time i saw a falcon 20 take off there was a G-II departing on the parallel rwy.

  • These planes are not very loud compared to any other turboprop they just sound very very very different which makes them seem louder. On takeoff and landing with the propellers at mas RPM the sound is very high pitch but once the aircraft has a positive rate of climb and the gear and flaps are up the pilots pull back the propeller speed and the sound (pitch) becomes lower and the P180 sounds almost like any other turbo prop.

  • @carman3756 Yeah? Well! It looks like a flying egg beater.

  • I don't have anything to compare that to, so I can't tell if it is excessively loud or not. If you could record other PT6 aircraft on the same day, from the same location, it would help. That said, I know the Piaggio does have a bit of a reputation. Still, I've always liked this design.

  • aren't they minus 1 p180 now?

  • They have a very distinct sound that is different from any other propeller driven aircraft, Jet or conventional engine. Aside from that, INSIDE the Avanti is whishper quiet.

There is a small fleet of those (8 or 9) in Las Vegas.

Was there an aircraft in there somewhere?

Waste of good video for just the noise, don't you think? lol

  • Actually to me it looks like a catfish...:)

  • @TheTemest Yes! I worked at Beech on 400xp and was always stunned why they shrieked so much.

  • NICE SOUND!

  • You want loud? Try an original Mitsubishi Diamond 300 which became the Beechjet 400. That makes the Avanti seem like it has silencers on the turbines.

  • @reichec I will try getting video of one taking off. My school is right next to a USCG/gen. aviation airport, and they take off daily (I assume to patrol the Caribbean area). Occasionally they will fly no more than 70 feet on approach directly over the school.

  • Thats not LOUD or noise....its just MUSIC..PT6A music dude!
