In the early 1870s, there was an amorphous group of New England's homeless veterans with an indefatigable urge to perform. Since they were too illiterate to perform any existing materials, they decided to come up with their own daring new works. Coming from dire straits, they strive to produce work with minimal finances, printing scripts on used napkins and folding props out of used scripts. This way they are able to keep admissions to their live shows affordable enough for the rest of the city's shrewd and unemployed.
Inspired by these storied heroes, a group of young actors and writers embark on a journey to create and promote original, affordable and unusual work using all of the skills at their disposal. They call themselves Rough Week in honor of the time and pains taken in producing such labors of love. They are headquartered in the Great City of Boston.
