http://www.theclaimsconnection.co.uk/medical-negligence.html - Welcome to the Claims Connection NHS Hospital complaint video.
In this short video presentation we explain what rights patients have regarding complaints about poor service or negligence involving the NHS.
It is not surprising that with many millions receiving NHS treatment each year occasionally things do not go according to plan. There are many thousands of negligence cases made each year against the NHS and unfortunately many instances involve serious injury or harm to patients. Here we explain what you can do if you have any reason to complain about the health service in England & Wales.
The NHS Complaints procedure was revamped in 2009 and in many ways it is much easier now to make a formal complaint.
More about the new NHS Complaints Procedures introduced in April 2009.
If you make a complaint within 12 months of the event then you have the right to have your case investigated, and be given a full and prompt response.
There are two important formal stages to the complaints process:
Firstly you should refer the case in writing to the local medical professional or organisation management team.
This is called local resolution, and most cases are resolved at this stage.
If you're still unhappy, you can refer the matter to the Health Ombudsman (Independent Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman) who is independent of the NHS and government.
You are entitled to have your hospital complaint dealt with efficiently and it should be properly investigated.
You are entitled to hear the outcome of the complaint and investigation.
You may be entitled to compensation if you have been harmed.
Here at the Claims Connection we can help you make a claim for medical negligence where personal injury has been suffered. Our NHS negligence specialists would be happy to assess your claim in more detail.
If you find yourself in this position - please contact us directly by calling 0800 0322210.
