  • I'm not sure that she's 'tough' but she is lavishly-paid! That's what gave her the perseverence to come back to finish her speech! For being the communications director of the 2010 Olympics, she likely gets paid more than $100 000/year. I would be 'tough' too if I got paid that much!

How much courage does it take to continue a speech, after the police have hauled away the protesters?! If she is so 'tough', she wouldn't have flinched!

The protesters could find a better approach, though.

  • i agree with your comment about the olympics being a success ....how do you see it being a success with decreased social programs and increasing hidden gas prices and taxes .Why is there no real accountabilty from vanoc and the province. What benefit is a 1 billion doller super highyway for a 14 day event. Please educate me on uncontrolled mega project spending?Who is we?Why has opposition in any normal democracy been suppresed? Why is there an elite promoting nationalism ?

  • u rock

  • will the olympics be a success, well if it is, then Vancouver dramatically increases popularity and boost and in the economy (more money for homeless)

if not, sure protesters, go ahead, tear this city apart in anger

but for now, we should work towards success of the olympics AND HELPING THE HOMELESS THE ADDICTS ETC

but please, do not add to the cost of the Games (security prices will be increased greatly) by continously protesting

yes, we now understand the problems of the game

  • sry bout the same posts, glich in my computer.........

  • k, homelessness is a problem and does need to be addressed and solved,

however, the protesters are wasting their time and making hypocrites of themeselves.....

    are the Games bad? debatable...

but the Games are coming no matter what, so instead of protesting them (and bumping up the price of security) why not work towards a solving the problem much rather than complain about it.

also, protest to stop it? stupid, we've spent soo much money on it, to drop out now would be a complete waste..

  • I came in from Saskatoon on my spring break vacation and i was very scared when this had happened. It didn't open my eye's about the poor people, at all living on the eastside. The protestors just emberassed themselves is all.

  • So...what? just because some homeless bum need housing, we regular middle class citizens have to be denied of this activity that can potentially bring some popularity and significance to this cheesy little fishing town you call "the grand city of vancouver"? I don't mind paying taxes so government can set up PAYING jobs for people in poverty. But I will not pay to give them free houses so they can laugh in my face about it. This is a lousy place and we all know it.
