Wheel standing 1970 AMX - qualifying run #2

Second run. This run was actually better on the incremental times with a 1.38 60' time until I got past the 1000' mark. Apparently the carb float came loose and fell into the bowl (Autolite carb). This is an NHRA SS/H AMX and is a 390 AMC by MACH Development with a Jerico 4-speed using and Advanced Clutch. Note where the 60' lights are.

Great video. I'm a chevy man but I always had a thing for AMX's. Didn't know that 390's could rev that high. When are you going to post some new video?

It is not a 390 the car is a SS/H car a 390 would be a SS/C. The car is a 343 CI car. Hence the high reving.

Sorry HEMI guy, it is a 390 AMC with a single 4bbl Autolite carb which is just a little over 600 CFM. The 1969 AMX's with 2 4bbls on a cross-ram are the SS/C entries.

Wow! Thanks! I've always wanted to take my wife for a spin but tech says "no way". Maybe I could get away on a launch then 1-2 shift? That would get her attention!
