Yes its clearly important to know the script but you have to make it look natural for you are acting like a natural person with a different character... That's all.

  • Good words! Excellent advice! Thanks. I might just do it as a hobby! ;)

  • right on man. nice words of wisdom.

  • I'm an actor and yes it's good to memorize but it's also good to not to choose your movements based on the scene. it's gotta to be fresh and new like it's the first time your showing it to people. Try memorizing the first line. Remember we're not "acting" or robots. Make it your own and make it real. Meizer says the seed of acting is doing.

  • Please do not listen to ANYTHING this Dr. Clown says. It will lead to you to nowhere. True professionals, like myself and others Always prepare and memorize material and yet still allow ourselves to be open for direction and adjustments. An unprepared actor is not an actor. The best of the best prepare constantly. Anthony Hopkins has said he goes over his material hundreds of times memorizing and working out all the details. This man in an expert in Nothing!

  • THank you so much...

  • Everything you say is spot on!

  • best actier ever alive yall

  • Totally true. Also totally how I nail all of my auditions.

You have to memorize the words, of course. Memorizing the inflection, facial expressions and what have you and doing it the exact same way every single time is stale and forced.

Unless you're auditioning for musical theatre, you don't want to be stale in forced. It seems that's what musical theatre acting is about, however...

  • too much head moving

in another vid from expert village the woman said memorize the monologue

  • He is a smart guy..I wish he was more enthusiastic.

  • too much twitching
