The Turkish Army has retained a permament military presence in Cyprus since 1960, along with Greece, originally in the form of a garrison, authorised by the Cyprus Constitution of 1960. This is the order of battle of those forces, prior to 1974:

Gφnyeli Grubu (Gφnyeli Group) * 2 Piyade Bolugu (2nd Infantry Company) * 3 Piyade Bolugu (3rd Infantry Company) * Agir Silah Bolugu (Heavy Weapons Company)

Ortakoy Grubu (Ortakoy Group) * 1 Piyade Bolugu (1st Infantry Company) * 4 Piyade Bolugu (4th Infantry Company) * Alay Kh. Srv. Bolugu (Regimental HQ Company)

In July 1974, Turkey invaded the north of Cyprus after a coup by the Cypriot National Guard against the democratically-elected President, Archbishop Makarios III. Turkish forces involved in the 1974 action included: * An airborne (parachute) brigade (Brig.Gen. Everen) * A commando brigade (Brig.Gen. Demirbag) * A Special Strike Force Landing Brigade (Brig.Gen. Tuncer) * The 39th Infantry Division (Maj.Gen. Demirel) * The 28th Infantry Division (Maj.Gen. Polat)

Since the 16th of August 1974, the Turkish Army has retained occpuational control of the northern 37% of Cyprus.

[edit] Officers and Unit Structure

The current commanding officers of the Turkish Army are: * Chief of the Turkish General Staff: General Yaşar Büyükanıt * Commander of the Army: General İlker Başbuğ

The Cyprus Turkish Forces Command is an independent command from the rest of the Turkish Army, and is equipped with two mechanised infantry divisions, as well as supporting external brigades and regiments.

  • @trionzzz where i said that Turkish commandos asked the Greek to move? are you retarted?

"turkish sat commandos one of the best" who says they are one of the best? you? or the youtube experts? :/

  • @kokotselos

Turks didnt asked Greek commandos to move or retread, if they did for some reason good for them otherwise Turkish SAT commandos (one of the best in the world) would've eaten them alive, lol like they seriously try to compare 3th world army with one of the best in world ! And all these excuses and lies, like Turks care or see them as a competetive potential.

If it wasnt the US intelligence informing Greece that Turks were already on the island they were still sleeping lol

  • @sirjohn1397 The Kardak (Imia) story was sold by Greek goverment before even start. Do you know that General Limperis asked Prime Minister Simitis to send commandos in both Imia Islands and he refused? Do you know that 2 of the Greek Commandos that protected the big island went to the other one,had the Turkish commandos in 20 mts and when they asked order to fire they got told not to engage? The rest of story is known. America said "no flags,no ships,no troops".....

  • @kokotselos We also know Kardac. Our commanders took it back in just 15 minutes. After that your all head of military resigned :) You shouldn't compare Turkey and Greece. You know the truth since 1453, Turks are way better than Greeks :)

    Cheers from Istanbul.

  • Turkish navy pride? ROFL - proud with what? the own sinking of Kocatepe? The Malta yok or with every corral in Aegean sea littered with wreckage from TN sonars?

  • Thankyou very much! Several pics were the TCG Ege, F256, the ex-USN frigate USS Ainsworth (FF1090) which I served aboard from 1982 to 1985, She was sold to Turkey in 1994, and now resides in the Inciralti Sea Museum in Izmir, Turkey. The video of her launching a Harpoon missile was especially interesting! I am very happy she is still serving, as an example of Naval history.

The Turkish Navy looks quite modern, and the detractors know little of what they speak.

  • TURKISH NAVY = WET-PUSSYS
