  • As usual, the Protestants got it wrong: Jesus is teaching him-to love the Lord with your whole mind, soul, and strength and your neighbor as yourself-love is the step beyond faith and necessary for salvation.

  • no. they did not take the Law too seriously, but they got it wrong because of the standard self righteousness which determines to obey rather an acknowlegement that we ALL disobey it and that none of our efforts constitute obedience to it.

    But as to honouring the pharisees, WE ARE PHARISEES. we do get bogged down in minutiae, we get nasty.

    as for Jesus holding up the Law, this shows that NOONE keeps the Law.

    I appreciate the demand of the Law, AND I KNOW I CANNOT KEEP IT
