Fish performed live at the Bosuil in Weert, The Netherlands on november 24, 2010. It was an acoustic performance in which he was musically accompanied by guitarist Frank Usher and Keyboardplayer Foss Paterson, together they also call themselves the 3 F's.
Fish (real name: Derek William Dick; born 25 April 1958, in Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland), is a Scottish progressive rock singer, lyricist and occasional actor, best known as the original lead singer of Marillion. Fish was involved as singer and lyricist on 4 studio albums of Marillion, as a solo artist he has released 9 studio albums, that's why the latest was appropiately called "13th Star". I personally am a great fan of Fish (as well as his former band), but through the years he wasn't always able to vocally reach the high notes from his earlier singing period. Recently Fish had so much problems with his vocal chords that he had to have surgery on them. This was the first time since that surgery that I saw and heard him in a live setting and to me now his voice is better than it was in a long time. I should mention that a show of Fish was always worthy of attendance, partially also because there's not only the great Music (especially wonderful lyrics), but Fish also has some stand-up comedic talent, which he shows at his live gigs.
The song is "Slainte Mhath", a track of the 4th studio album by Marillion, the last on which Fish sang with the band. This album "Clutching at straws", released in 1987, is my favourite album ever (by any artist). "Slainte Mhath" is (Scottish) gaelic for "good health", it's a drinking toast.
This is why "H" should never attempt to sing this song !!
