How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)" is a 1964 hit song written and produced by the Motown songwriting team of Holland--Dozier--Holland. It was originally recorded by American soul singer Marvin Gaye. The song peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart and #3 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart in January 1965. The most successful cover version of the song was by James Taylor. Taylor's version reached #1 on the Easy Listening chart and #5 on Billboard Hot 100 in mid 1975 . On this version, Carly Simon performed harmony vocals and David Sanborn played saxophone. Other notable versions include those by Jr. Walker & the All Stars, Jerry Garcia Band, Karen Dalton, Joan Osborne, Kenny Rogers and Michael Bublé.
