I have no quarrels or hate towards any Brit, but the blood of many innocent man, woman and child was shed to grow your empire. The pain and suffering caused by your government in Ireland, India, Africa and the Americas should not be forgiven. I do not want to take away from all your good deeds and many there are, I just want to bring to light the Empire's hands are not clean.

-I am Canadian first and foremost but my aunts, uncles and cousins were murdered in Co. Down by British troops just for being Irish, speaking their native tongue and choosing to go to mass on a Sunday.

@CelticMontreal you will be hard pressed to find a sane person who said the empire was "bloodless" no empire is but in comparison to others and with ideas and morals of the time i would say we were not the worst in the world, irelands a special case because of the religius wars the british isles have had for centruies and ireland being a spring board for invasion of england. but all said and dun compare us to japan russia france spain etc i would say we were the better of a bad lot.

watching ur videos it seems u just wish for a new empire instead of just accepting the current commonwealth which just has the queen of the uk as its head and thats that...when i think about it thats what i would rather but just some closer relations with each other

i do not want our old empire back i only enjoy learning about it etc, i have no desire to want it back and know that it is not possible, i do want a stronger and more co-operative commonweath on the other hand.

God Save Our Queen and The Maple Leaf Forever.

I'm Canadian. My great-great grandfather served as a Cabin boy for the British navy during the Boer war and was a Canadian soldier during WWI. He was at Vimmy ridge when the Canadian took it for the Allies. My great grandfather was a member of the Queen's Own Rifles. The Maple Leaf Forever is their marching song. Whenever I hear it, I remember my Grampa and how proud I am of him for his service. God save our Queen and heaven bless the maple leaf forever!

I lived in canada in the summers from the time I was four years old till I was thirty six years old when my dad died, and have always considered it my second home, as a result I have always considered myself just as much canadian as american and have a lot of friends still in canada, and besides I think some day we will become one big country as I think the US and canada will merge to survive, and I am proud of both countries
