@gorgonthemagicman yeah he can! i saw a video of a guard attacking a supposed threat and he used the butt of his rifle and hit a tourist on the top of the nose

@coldstream07 Thanks for the reply and the information. Though I had discovered since my last post how very well trained they are and I take back my comment upon them only being there for tradition. But, at least people will heed your words rather than my previous ones.

@Kittywhiskers1000 You are correct. The foot guards traditionally wear hobnailed boots, which make it particularly difficult not to slip on certain surfaces when they're wet or frozen over. They do not however patrol merely for tradition. All of the guards are fully trained soldiers (most with active combat experience) that will defend their posts fiercly if forced to do so. It would truly be ill-advised to be on the receiving end of such a demonstration.

@TheDC08 They do have a lot of discipline. It may be because the soles of their shoes are very slippery on that surface (hence why there are a lot of videos of them falling down). Don't ask why the heck they wear them because I don't have a clue. I think they're mostly there for tradition anyway, like the Queen.
