This is an Artizan Style A Carousel Band Organ (circa 1910) restored in 2011 by Ben's Player Piano Service. Enjoy it's performance of Sleigh Ride from the roll "Christmas Carousel" (Wurlitzer Military Band Organ Roll # 14523).
This Artizan Style A from the carousel at Carousel Center Mall in Syracuse, NY, was restored in 2011 by Ben Gottfried of Ben's Player Piano Service. The organ was converted to play Wurlitzer Style 150 organ rolls at some point prior to the restoration in 2011. These rolls include expression coding that is intended to vary the sound of the instrument's pipes throughout roll playback. This Artizan Style A has 3 manual stops, since it did not originally include the feature of automatic expression/"stops" control I went ahead and installed an expression system to take advantage of the expression coding in the Wurlitzer Style 150 rolls. An automatic shut-off system was also added for operator convenience. This Organ will return to it's home at the Carousel Center Mall within the carousel area in time for Christmas 2011.
