@Oryem oh great i'm gonna get loads of these comments thrown at me now :/ no i very rarely see a female tennis player reach that kind of speed on her serve :/ yes i have seen serves a lot faster than that coming from the players i mentioned in my other comments
@Iadyjaja sorry i took so long to reply! lol. no i agree actually. against venus she obviously served particularly well, and at the time, this was the only match of hers that i'd seen. she showed that she could place and spin her serve, but the majority of the time, she did go for huge serves and she made a lot of them. i saw her play schiavone in the AO yesterday and her serve is good, but her placement and % first serves werent amazing. i was really disappointed that she lost that.
Speed on a serve is not everything. That's why I think MJMS has a better serve than Rebecca, she knows how to craft the spin and placement. Petrova has one of the best serves on the WTA, it's what keeps her in the top 20. The US Open happened to be a time where Marino was consistently serving bombs. Laura Robson hit 11 aces at Wimbledon this year, but she wasn't able to keep it up. Of course, as long as Marino keeps improving, her serve and how it supports her game will improve.
@Iadyjaja how. i know she's young and everything, but not many women can hit serves above 120mph. She reached 117mph in this match, and hit higher speeds in other matches of hers. I know her serve is nowhere near as good as someone like Serena's. Of course it's not. But i still think she's one of the best servers on tour. Who else can you think of that has a better serve than her? aprat from who i mentioned obviously
she plays just like venus and has a similar back hand

Marino is a good player she beat Bartoli in her home country 6-3 6-1 late last year.

That is just totally wrong, Rebecca has a very good serve for her age, but it's nowhere near the best.
Petrova and MJMS are much better servers than Rebecca.
