Nobody will EVER get an upgrade without a true reason such as VDB/IDB compensation and ABSOLUTELY not by asking!. Everyone would always be on honeymoon if that worked! This sense of entitlement towards upgrades everyone seems to have is quite boorish behaviour.
If you want to fly in C or F, buy a ticket in C or F or upgrade with EARNED miles, EARNED certificates, or buy-up at the kiosk. Frankly an airline will NOT upgrade you unless you've paid in some way: time, miles, or money. Rubbish!
