Arkon's SM228 features a 1 inch tall pedestal that adjusts to fit nearly any angle. The triangle shaped adhesive base of the pedestal can be installed on your dash or console. Due to the strength of the adhesive, this solution is recommended only for semi-permanent to permanent installations. Screws are included for an optional (more secure) screw mount installation. Please consult with an installation professional when using the optional screw mount installation as this method requires drilling into your vehicle and causes permanent damage. For some fleet vehicles, it's the ideal solution. For most consumers though, they opt for the standard adhesive mount installation so that the damage to the vehicle is kept at a minimum.

This product would be best for use with any cell phone or ipod type devices. If you don't have a case around your iPhone you may also want to consider the IPM128 : ARKON Multi Angle Dashboard or Console Mount for Apple iPhone 3G and Original Apple iPhone. I am currently using this in my car and have been for almost a year and it works great.
