My son Jake had the most amazing lesson with Matt. It was the highlight of our trip. He is the ONLY one to take a lesson from. You will learn a lot and have a great experience in CR. He went above and beyond our expectation. Matt is the most professional and super nice and fun instructor my son has had and we live in Florida and have had a few!

how big are the waves there in August? Is it crowded there? Are the waves good for a beginner/intermediate?

Hi - The waves tend to be "bigger" in August than in other months of the year. But, I can't predict just how big they will be. August is not a very crowded time of the year. Playa Grande is great for beginners and intermediates as long as the waves are not huge...If you are unsure of the conditions, talk to Ian at Frijoles Locos surf shop.
