Maybe greys are the cherubim of the Bible? Notice how people like Elijah went up into a "chariot" (literally "vehicle") "in a whirlwind" (a vortex), how there were always "clouds" present when angels or God appeared unto men, and how Ezekiel described the vehicles of angels, driven by the cherubim, as appearing like "wheels". It's not something i believe in without doubt, but just putting that out there for others to consider.
