The water thing is irrelevant. Fact is, powerlines still work fine in very heavy rain, they don't go bang. The pilot is very good though!

Water by itself isn't grounded.

that's one hell of a pump!

BALLS................enormous BALLS

Aircraft+powerlines+ water........you guys dont get paid enough!!!!

3500 horsepower pump? Really? That's like 3 Bugatti veyrons. I doubt.

These guys go through all of this so we can watch you tube videos uninterrupted by power outages. I feel guilty.......:(

What people have to realize, is water isnt conductive, the impurities in the water make it conductive....

@gnuman1 The helicopter is not at the same voltage potential as the high voltage line, so if their were contaminents in the water making it impure, it could cause the voltage to arc across to the helicopter in its attemp to even out the potential

The water is pure not to prevent the chopper from getting "high voltage", but to prevent a short across the insulator which most likely result in arcs going from high-voltage line to ground across the chopper - that would be deadly.
Pure water is an insulator. If it wasn't, we wouldn't have power when it rained somewhere.
