This intriguing demonstration at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is an adaptation of an historic exhibit that Nikola Tesla used at the 1893 Chicago World's Columbian Exposition to demonstrate the concept of a rotating magnetic field. This is one of Tesla's most significant inventions. When AC power is supplied, the egg starts spinning and eventually stands on end. (This exhibit was co-designed by Karl Dunkle-Warner as an Eagle Scout project.)
