different ideas being presented by the people writing the bills? That means more room for negotiation and more possibilities to be looked at, not to mention more minds working toward the same goals rather than just the president writing a bill of his own. I think it'll lead to a plan that will better represent everybody.

I think this video is a bit pessimistic to be honest. First of all, Professor Traugott doesn't really go into detail about the reasons that there are several proposed bills being passed around the senate and house right now, and to say that president Obama "didn't take any initiative" just isn't true. The president laid out several very specific goals that he wants the bill to accomplish, and allowed members of House and senate to write proposals. Is it really a bad thing that there a many
