A suggested program to support neighborhood recycling, using Kissena Park as a prototype

Townsend Harris High school senior Nicole Markopopoulos chose to conduct independent research on a topic that bothers her: the lack of recycling bins. As part of her Social Science research class, she conducted a six-month test program at a local park, recruiting volunteer friends. I have recycled all my life and find it annoying when I have to choose between throwing recyclables in the trash in a public place and carrying it home to recycle. My project showed that people would recycle in a park if given the opportunity.

Nicole also enjoys filming and has been the president of her school's film festival for 3 years.
