Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries are a common orthopaedic problem, especially in sports that are high-contact or involve sudden changes in direction. This particular patient was from Arizona and tore his left ACL while riding motocross. In addition to the ACL tear, he had a continuing problem with his left patella dislocating. He flew down to Houston, Texas and had his operation on a Wednesday. He walked out of the hospital the same day with no crutches or braces and came into the clinic the next day. His dressings were changed, xrays were taken, and he was instructed on what he would be doing while he was in town and when he returned home. This video footage is from the next Monday, approximately 5 days after surgery. The footage only shows him performing step-ups and walking, but there are many more exercises in his rehab protocol. His ACL reconstruction involved taking a bone-patellar tendon-bone graft from his right knee and inserting it into his left knee. This graft is what is known as the "gold standard" because of its strength and healing time. Then, his patella was realigned by tightening the medial (medial means towards the middle of the body) retinaculum of his left knee. This involved making an incision in the medial retinaculum and sewing it back tighter so that there was more medial pull on the patella. • @bayview63 But my doctor took this "stupid video". His On Staff Physical Trainer is the guy right next to me the whole time. Dr. Sanders himself is in one of the other rooms treating other patients. Your correct though, do as YOUR doctor tells you. BUT, if you went to Dr. Sanders for your surgery, you might already be done with your rehab by now.

  • Just an update. My daughter had her surgery at The Sanders Clinic as you can see from my other post. Yesterday was 6 months but she has been back on the soccer field since 15 weeks. Ican tell you doctors have different opinions about how to go about this surgery. The first two opinions before going to Dr. Sanders were different from each other, they both had their own idea on what they would do and how long it would take to recover. We chose Dr. Sanders and have not looked back. Thanks Dr.

  • i'm 14 days after surgery. listen i'm not saying you can't do these excersizes, you can. but your taking an awfull risk. my doctor has me on cruches for 6 weeks. no matter how much of a hero you want to be the graft has to heal before you push it. listen to your doctor not these stupid videos.

  • @evinger79 Well, that was me and yes it was 5 days after and yes, it hurt a lot. But that is the direction that I chose to go for a full and fast recovery.

You guys have a choice, it's your knee. Don't take what your favorite doctor says as gospel without at least checking around first.

At least making a few calls would be more productive than sitting here dissing this video.

What do you really have to lose??

  • thank you...

  • @KKHANK2 If any game causes pain it's best not to continue with it.. And you can look up kneeguru.co.uk for people with similar problems to yours and perhaps find out more information..

  • Fake & bullshit :)

  • This is very real. My 14 year old daughter just had her ACL repaired by Dr. Sanders on Wednesday August 3, 2011. Today is August 6, 2011 and she had done everything I have seen in the videos from the Sanders Clinic. She had a complete ACL reconstruction. She is already bending her knees to 145 degrees. Dr. Sanders has called everyday to the Therapist, Allen, to check on her progress. She is only three days out and started doing wall squats today.

  • @evinger79 yea well their is no way in hell he could do all this 5 days after
