Peryl Mae Sorensen, 82, of 4201 Scandia Rd., Russell, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 6, 2009 at her residence.

Peryl was born May 28, 1926 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Julius and Mary Jankovich Pavkov. Peryl was raised in the Edinboro area and was a graduate of Waterford High School. She moved to Warren to work at Sylvania, then at the New Process Company for more than 20 years, from which she retired.

She had been very active at the First Church of the Nazarene, having taught Sunday School there for more than 60 years. Her involvement with children was the light of her life, at church and at her home, hosting cookouts and swimming at the farm. She was always helping others, loved her family and enjoyed cooking, canning, and her doll collection. Words cannot express her selflessness for others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth A. Sorensen, whom she married in Warren on June 21, 1947; three sons, David K. Sorensen and his wife Joan, Madison, Wis., Douglas K. Sorensen and his wife Janice, Quincy, Mass., D. Kevin Sorensen and his wife Mary, French Camp, Miss.; one daughter, Kristine A. Rummel and her husband Douglas, Reading, Pa.; four sisters, Ruth Stanich, Norton , Ohio, Jane Rew, Conneaut Lake, Pa., Sally Harrison and her husband Bill, Edinboro, Pa. and Kay Broderick, Arizona; two brothers, Dr. Willam Pavkov and his wife Nancy, California, and Cy Pavkov and his wife Dot, Edinboro, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
