  • Good thing that rack is steel. You do that to aluminum and it might be all over.

Does the spacer increase the likelihood of the bolt shearing off?

  • @nikrguy - The spacer does increase the chance of it sheering off. I asked around here and no one has ever heard of that happening with a spacer. Though one guy here has had his bolt break there even without a spacer. Those bolts break now and then, keeping them tight helps a bunch. But any prepared tourer brings extra bolts.

  • I don't see how spacing the rack away from the fender stay is necessary. The only time I've needed spacers on a rack or fenders is spacing them away from a disc caliper. I've got a Nitto campee and sks longboards currently installed on my bike, and no spacers on the rack. Everything lines up perfectly and is snug.....no rattles or interference.

Just curious why you cold-set the rack, then added spacers......? I'm sure it was for a reason......

  • OMG I want that bike.... love to see your vid

  • is that a VAR workstand?

  • Thank you, whomever it was that posted this. Had I not seen this, I would have done a few things differently, and not necessarily for the better. You guys rock!
