The Patient Accountability and Affordability Act passed the Senate on Christmas Eve -- but our work isn't done yet. Here is a short video with my thoughts on this historic legislation, and where we go from here.
Senator Brown has been a real leader in the Senate on healthcare reform. Unlike so many of his colleagues who have clearly been bought by healthcare lobbyists, Sen. Brown is working to make some sense of our healthcare mess.
You really let me down. This is a stellar win for the Insurance Industry and big pharma. You voted for Torture in the house and you voted for Industry (and against Labor) in the Senate. You are not progressive.
"A great victory for progressives." You have got to be kidding me. The Senate bill has no public option, requires individuals to purchase private insurance (with large co-pays and deductables), raises taxes on the middle and working class, taxes good quality health insurance plans (so that employers will cut back/reduce those hard won benefits), and takes funding away from Medicare (a single payer plan.) Oh yes, this is a great piece of progressive legislation all right! Shame on you Sen. Brown.
Mr Brown always keeps his constituents informed of what he is doing. He has a knack for succinctly explaining all that is happening. His approach is very mature, contrary to some congressmen/women.
It's a damaging as the Federal Reserve is to finances, Health Reform isn't Reform without a public "option." You cannot ask the greedy insurance companies to voluntarily play fair. That's simply absurd! Mr Brown has been help to me when I had problems with the VA, but I have to keep it real. The President should veto anything without a public option and play dirty like the republicans do and demonize them in TV ads etc. "Fear of death panels"...people are STUPID!! Palinesquely stupid!!
thanks for your note, but, our family didnt have any presents this year (or the year before, or, apprently, next year). All of my families' spare money is spent on medical bills...this will help--not at all...
I'm very disappointed with this bill AND the Congress and White House that support it.
Those who promised a battle over providing Single-Payer or a Public Option have let us down by accepting this bill [ for the sake of Democratic Party unity, rather than for the sake of their country ] are the most disappointing. Again, they have shown what Rahm Emanuel asserted as far as the Left being toothless tools of the Dem Party. My hope is that REAL progressives will vote against this travesty.
No public option then do nothing. I can be sick or I can die. I cannot afford another bill.

Thanks Sen. Brown! It's comforting to know we've got a man like him here in Ohio.
