  • @steven0487 osu. also turning your shoulders to move your belt shows your putting more power and emphasizing the actual technique and impresses the black belts and just toughens you up:p

  • that gyaku tsuki is really a difficult punch to do in kihon.

    espacially for the hip movement.

    this video helped me allot!

    grtz from belgium

  • I'd guess Kagawa probably knows what he's doing. He's been doing it for long enough and he's trained with the worlds best. Most likely he's someone worth listening to.

  • Totally awesome; thanks for sharing. This will definitely help in my grading for green belt this Saturday.

  • @brickshooter What exactly do you think is gained from having the foot set first before you throw the punch that isn't already there when the foot touches the ground and making contact with the fist simultaneously?

  • @brickshooter Wrote: " I disagree with synchronizing the reverse punch with the step backwards. Unlike going forward, the step back should be 1st to establish a firm platform, then 2nd deliver the punch. Punching while moving backwards is ineffective "

Wrong! The power comes from the the planted foot pushing you backwards and transmitting through the hips up into the arm! Quite effective

  • Kawaga is such a perfectionist. Sometimes I wonder whether Yahara's vision of Karate is better -- focus on generating acceleration and power rather than the angle of the hand, angle of the feet, etc.

  • yes it is

  • isn't that kagawa sensei?

  • nice
