That is a Tsugaru-Shamisen. Specifically it is an electric shamisen, the Mugen 21 from Shamisen-Katoh, from Tokyo.

Guys you rock! But one thing all the videos i have seen, i always think the shamisen should be a bit louder when you perform with a band! Just my opinion nothing to get upset :)

Yes it is very hard to get it quite loud without creating feedback! Especially in a rock band setting. But we always try to get it balanced.
