@garganeo It's not his singing that makes him good, I think he sings horrible as well. But it's his originality, the way he just makes the music WORK. The stuff he made would be a miserable mess if it was performed by somebody else, Beefheart was brilliant because he gave it a certain form of structure.
That's why he is respected and enjoyed by many people, including me!

I love Beefheart's music first and foremost. The fact that he still polarises opinion about himself is just the icing on the cake. Nothing quite like enjoying something and someone starts whining "This is crap. It's just nooiise". There, there. Go back to listening to something safe and linear.
