Good for him on sharing his beliefs and I have nothing wrong with this but...
1. No, he's NOWHERE near being the top players on his team.
2. He shouldn't be allowed in the outfield...again :D First base only please. He's still young and I hope he has a better 2010 then the disaster of 2009.

And when you become a professional athlete, I say you have the right to claim all the glory for yourself and give nothing to God. That's your decision. But don't criminalize Daniel Murphy for what HE believes. That's all I'll say.

To in myheart, what you see as a delusion is a true faith to people like Daniel Murphy and me. That he takes comfort in God's love even when he fails is perfectly alright, not this lower standard you see it as. So what is he supposed to say? "Jesus hates me because we lost?" or is he supposed to beat himself over the head? He makes improvements while saying Jesus still loves him. He has the right to believe that you know...

Murphy may delude himself into thinking that "God" is the reason for his success. He is a very good hitter however this "God" character has nothing to do with it. He just works very hard. If "God" if a comfort to him so be it but I don't want him to ever say, "Well we lost but it's alright. Jesus still loves me." I have seen that often from Pro athletes. Let's hope he is above that.

And if you ever were a pro athlete and you never acknowledged God for your success, I would be OK with that because that's what you believe. But don't criminalize Murphy for his faith-centered career. That's all I'll say.
