The importance of creating awareness about the genocide in Darfur is that action is not being taken to stop it while we are knowledgeable that is occurring; the small actions that are being taken at this time are not well funded or well known. The feminist perspective of this issue is that human right violations are taking place, focusing on the rape and abduction of women in Darfur, and sitting back and letting it happen is not right. Feminism is set on the principles that women have been oppressed and given less power over the course of time and on a worldwide basis and that this should be stopped. The women of Darfur are being oppressed and abused and because of this we will try to give a voice to the women of Darfur through creating awareness. As the public continues to have little information about the happenings in Darfur and as rape continues to be used against women another event will be created to be placed in the history books. Genocide is still present in today's society and all over the world. Even though past battles have been won that doesn't mean that genocide is an issue of long-ago. Wars still need to be fought and finished before a break can be taken; awareness is key to ending the war in Darfur.
