May 30, 2010: Arcade & Attica RR locomotive No. 14 rests in her bay in the engine house at the rail yard in Arcade, New York. This engine was operated as the principal motive power of the scenic excursion train from 1963 until 1989 when she was taken out of service. No. 14, a 4-6-0 "Ten Wheeler", was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1917.

  • Its sad to see a steamer this way, people just don't care about history anymore do they.

  • @97trainman

There's plenty of care, just not plenty of cash, I'm afraid.

  • Any plans for her?

  • give a thumbs up if u want to help get this old girl running or if u want to see her run again

  • this poor old engine.....wish there were something we could do to help

  • @trainmaster844 A few years ago they had a boiler inspector from Strasburg come to take a look at her and see what the cost to restore her would be. The inspector told them not to begin any work on her as it would only damge her further. The story has changed since my last comment, 14 can be saved, but the work is well outside of the scope of the A&A shop force. But Strasburg is capable of doing the work needed, so if money is ever raised, !4 will be sent to Pennsylvania for restoration.

  • @tropicalfishswim - I can understand that #14 can be restored given the time and the money, but why did Strasburg "condemn" this engine? I never heard anything about this... If you have more info on that story, please let me know...

  • Stratsburg has essentially condemed this poor engine. It could be restored, but cost would be stagering. At least she is covered up and the A&A website still lists her as "pending restoration".

  • you couldnt have picked sadder music lol. Everytime im there i just sit there and stare at her....praying there will be a time where she can breathe again. I was there this past weekend and i must have spent about 10 minutes just imagining what she must have been like under steam.

  • the forgotten hero. looking out over the rails one last time before she is shut in for a future of uncertanty. this video certanly catches that essence and captures the heart. this is the kind of photography and videography that i love.
