Christopher Conley, High Sheriff of Carroll County NH, holds a press conference at the County complex on 7/2/12. He announces that he is forming a task force to investigate mortgage fraud. Fraud is occurring across the United States. Properties being foreclosed on that are owned outright. Financial institutions that stake claim to a property without a deed. The Sheriff states: "In each case there is no accountability be the financial institution, no one to present a reply, no decision maker to speak with. This man is a national hero. He has law enforcement background and says that anyone trained in law enforcement would suspect fraud. He has law enforcement powers and is duty bound to investigate crimes being committed in his county. This man will be remembered as the one who came forward and did his constitutional duty. This is a breakthrough.

Problem is this. Even with the cops saying that a crime was committed, the DA still has to prosecute. Great he is trying to find crime, but still need the DA to follow through. Let's see if that happens. He needs to have the DA sitting next to him, saying that they will prosecute any crimes found by the Sheriff.

It is encouraging to see a Sheriff take such a stand, however, I think he should be the one to do the investigation. If this is turned over to another agency, it will get bogged down and shoved under the rug, never to be heard of again. The Sheriff is the most powerful law enforcement agent on the local land and he should have subpoena powers to do the investigative work. Unfortunately, he is probably going to be limited in his financial resources and manpower within his county.

Great that the sheriff is coming out with this, get him all the help he and others need to go after all these crooks who have stolen so many peoples lives. Gods speed.
