Actually, kids in the '60s LOVED the horror films from the 1930s and '40s because they showed them all the time on TV. Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff movies would run interchangably with William Castle and Vincent Price and Bette David murder movies...
The snobbery seems to be much worse today, because now, only overt gore and 24/7 torture is viewed as valid "horror" material.

I disagree,...b/w horror movies are the best!!!!!!

What a compilation of TV trailers! I even remember back in the late 70's they shown Atragon on TV. And as an added bit of trivia, they brought back the sea serpent in the movie Atragon back as a monster in Destroy All Monsters.

Pretty much all of these movies are actually in color, but a majority of the public still had black & white TV sets in the mid-1960s - and many shows were still broadcast in b/w so the trailers were shown that way on TV. As for the movies - its what you grow up with. I'm sure many kids in the 1960s probably looked down on movies from the 1930s for looking old to them, and today a lot of kids look down on older movies for not being as graphic or hyperactively edited as films are now.
