Were they collected in Argentina?Do you bought them there? I have 2 pikes, very similar to yours, but probably from Brazil. How do tell the diference between male and female, besides their size....

How long have you had them, and how did you fix that marvellous nest? What do you feed them on? I'm just about to have the same species and would like to learn a bit of their maintenance. It's great to know they can do fairly well in a 25 gallon tank. Though I have a 50 gallon to start with a couple of juveniles.

I feed the parents frozen bloodworms, krill, and pellet food...I've had them for almost a year now...The female is sitting in the cave right now with fry again...The cave is made out of ceramic wall tiles siliconed together...it was originally used for spawning plecos, and I left it in there by accident..I guess they like it so I haven't bothered trying to find something more suitable...

They look great! Congratulations! And I see the tank is not that big, and even so you got them to spawn. They look very healthy. How big are they?

thanks..the male is around 4.5-5 inches, and the female is slightly smaller..

the pair were actually found near each other in the wild already paired up...I purchased them, and i've been keeping them in a 25 gallon tank...they get along great and continue to spawn(sitting on a batch of eggs as I post this)
