This is a steam-driven generator from the dawn of the electric age,l guess. This one was built in the 1920s,but to an old design. The liner Titanic had four engines like this to provide power at 100 volts DC.
The museum want to get a boiler so they can run this, all they'd need then are some trolleybuses,or trams,to take the current, via a suitably old rectifier!

  • Thank you for a priceless step into the past. Astonishing!

  • @speedstick77 Thanks for that, strange to think that the modern internal combustion engines are descended from these!

  • Great Video!

  • @AGDemo Thanks!

  • They have a smaller Bellis&Morcom steam engine at Leduc West society,Edmonton Power Historical Society Building. The Rossdale power house used these before they got steam turbines.
