This was a special night, with Phil Keaggy and Randy Stonehill performing at LeTourneau University in Longview, TX (2/5/10). When the two performed the song that Stonehill co-wrote with Keith Green (the song that was also one of Keaggy's big hits), it was a blessed event. Thankfully, the two allowed videotaping at the concert. It was a blessed evening indeed!

  • Nice! Thanks for sharing your video Steve.

  • Thank you. (since it seems you were there too, I guess you already know that it was a great night.).

I just wish I had brought a camera with a larger video card... but since I have loved "Love Broke Thru" for over 30 years since I first heard Phil's version, this was defining moment for me. It was great to hear them dedicate it to all the greats who had gone before (including seeing Randy add to the list Larry Norman).

    A fantastic night.

  • @vivian2gin Ha .. yes ... and you can hear Randy go "Ohh" at about 3:47.

  • WOW! Thanks for posting this, I really appreciate Randy Stonehill's music. I wish there were more of it on you tube, I keep checking periodically to see if someone has uploaded "Starlings" or "Christmas at Denny's".

  • Phil looks over at Randy at the 3:28 point and Randy is in LA-LA LAND so Phil just keeps makin' up pretty stuff till the 3:45 point when Randy sees the "I'm done" look. Phil even gives him alittle grin about it...

  • Todd Fishkind also co-wrote this incredible song. In the seventies in the LA/OC area we heard this song many times as Keith Green, Randy, and Phil would all do their own versions. Still who would get tired of it?

God did 'pull away the clouds that hung like curtains on my eyes, I was blind all these wasted years, and I thought I was so wise, until you took me by surprise." And I believe one of them said that the 'took me by surprise' line was a CS Lewis reference of 'love by surprise'.

  • It seems like two old friends just relaxing together and reminiscing about another old friend long since gone and doing the song as a tribute.

  • Absolutely , can't agree more.
