As the title suggest a compilation from the best fretless bass solos and licks in metal songs in my opinion , this concept seemed interesting to me due the fact that there are only a few bassists that use fretless bass in the metal scene.

This video contains a few material missing in the previous version of this video and some basing suggestions from some users.

ENJOY IT!!

Songs:

1- Simian Cattle - Augury
2- To Bid You Farewell - Opeth
3- The Explorer - Vintersorg
4- The Stir Of Season - Borknagar
5- Cashmere Shiv - Jeff Loomis
6- Orbital Elements - Obscura
7- The Philosopher- Death
8- Ripple Of A Tear - Exivious
9- Textures - Cynic
10- Silence Calls To Storm - Quo Vadis
11- Celestial Spheres - Oscura
12- Rivers Dancing - Gordian Knot
13- Words For The Nerds - Spastic Ink
14- Dracula - Iced Earth

  • Beyond Creation is a new band that has an amazing fretless bass player. The song Omnipotent is amazing. For anyone who wants to find good new metal.

  • I'm glad you have another version that wasn't muted. I can't believe Thesseling left Obscura, he was amazing.

  • @piratelveninja That bassy played for augury and quo vadis.

  • @metalade88 Well in Obscura and Pestilence Jeroen plays, for the most part, a respectful supportive role. So, to solely base his ability to play bass based on his work in both bands would be an injustice. Right now he's actually working on a jazz/fusion project with Italian guitar player and keyboardist Tommy Talamanca, so hopefully then we will see his true colors, as not only bassist, but a musician.

  • The fretless bass really works in metal... who would have guessed it?

  • @TomA475 Of course he is a serious player, he in fact does play impossible bass lines. But seeing that he has been studying e-bass and his microtonality stuff, you may think that he could do more.

  • @metalade88

On a video somewhere Thesseling said he wrote and recorded the solo for Orbital elements in 8 mins, and somewhere else he said he doesn't write the main parts for his lines but does occasionally contribute to them, so he isn't really as good as most people think but he is still a serious player.

  • @piratelveninja

For some reason it seems as if a lot of Techdeath fans smoke weed.

    Including me. :P

  • @OndskapensHersker Yaa I'm fairly certain I was stoned when I posted that which would explain the wrong title. But I like how its still the top comment lol.

  • Great fretless playing, Cheers Mates! Keep 'em coming, there's hundredes of these kind of performances...talent everywhere! Music is alive and well!

  • @piratelveninja

    It's Called Omnipresent Perception :P

  • @Ryu12543 I also think it's kind of sad, because I thought, he was a genius, too and he was kind of an idol for me. Steffen said, he didn't even write the bass solos of which he says that they were dedicated to his girlfriend.
