The sheer number of gameplay hours this thing offers is amazing! I knew I'd continue to enjoy the game through normal farming and family life for a good while, but I thought I'd at least be done with the main plot a long time ago. But it just keeps on going!!
Well, technically... At this point, I think the main plot IS "over"... This is more like the quest for the "New Game+" - which I didn't know when I started working on it. ._. Keep watching the other parts of these ending videos (and reading my crazy long descriptions) to see what I mean...
So, AFTER ringing all five Bells, and then ringing them again simultaneously to summon the Harvest King and save the Goddess Tree, this quest kicks in. The King will send you a letter asking you to see him at the Mountaintop... Thus:
0:01 - scene 1, the request: Ouch. So Melody herself is not pure enough? I just dedicated the past year of my village life to saving a sacred tree and bringing all of nature back into balance while receiving little to no recognition from the townspeople that I had anything to do with it, but I'm just not pure enough. I see how it is.
When you talk to Finn, his hint about the matter is "Pure at heart? Does that mean we're not adults yet?" Hmm...
2:00 - scene 1.5, the pathway: A-ha, I KNEW those hieroglyphics on the wall outside Garmon would be good for something!! Well, okay, I didn't really know, but I noticed them early on and hoped I would be able to translate them or something at some point. At least they do actually serve a purpose. Not only is it fun to watch yourself dematerialize and rematerialize, but it's very helpful, too: 1) for socializing with the Harvest King without the hassle of ascending 45 floors, and 2) for getting some nice mining done in the upper Garmon Mine levels. You can just start at the top and work your way down, and there's generally rarer stuff up there.
2:08 - scene 2, the task: Ah, so the pure-hearted one is not ME, but my first-born child Taiko! You have to wait until your child is grown, and then take a "Walk" together to the Mountaintop. Now, my son (adorably brave thing that he is) must plant a new Goddess Tree Seedling on an eastern island that currently lacks the power of nature.
[ ... 3:05 - the legend: Is it just me, or does that island look FAMILIAR...? Hmmm, fellow ToT players? ]
5:35 - scene 3, the ingredients: The items chosen to represent "Nature's Bounty" under each of the Sprite's elemental powers make a lot of sense (according to either their element or their position in the group of Sprites). ^^
~Alan, leader of the Harvest Sprites, has the power of fire, and so in the fiery Garmon Mine you have to find a shiny Diamond.
~Ben, so-called "important knowledge keeper" of the Harvest Sprites (seriously, is that a joke!? xD the one who forgets the melody of his Bell AND once forgot where he misplaced his Rainbow Badge?), has the power of water, so he requires one of the rarest fish, the King Salmon.
~Collin, comedian of the Sprites, has the power of earth. From the soil can come shining crops, particularly Shining Honeydew (in Summer).
~Daren, with the power of wind, is the lazy-paced official cook for the Sprites. He suggests Cheesecake, which - although it doesn't shine and doesn't relate to wind - DOES, as he points out, have a lot of nature packed into it: Flour (from the Wheat crop and the Watermill), Egg (from the coop), and Milk/Butter/Cheese (from the barn). It's the ultimate farmer's dish!
~Finally, Edge, the youngest and rather cry-babyish Sprite, has the power of heart. His item is the Shining Hearty Lunch - the best-quality version of the snack that your spouse will prepare for you every morning. A shiny boxed lunch with the power of heart! HOW SWEET!
I love this quest because it encourages you to involve yourself in every aspect of the game: farm, ranch, fishing, mining, and social. It's just awesome; everything is very cleverly connected.
7:02 - scene 4, the bittersweet reflection: Taiko's loving parents express both pride and worry at their child's newfound responsibility. Boy, they do grow up fast... (yeah, like, in two seasons). Toby's parental concern is so touching!! (Except, the VERY next morning - as in, five seconds after the completion of this scene - he asked me about having a second child. Okay, I get that you need a big family to stay attached to as the older child grows up and drifts away from you, but you could be a little subtler with your timing. xD)
For me as a player, though, the gravity of this bittersweet situation didn't sink in until later...

btw with me finn's hint was "pure of heart? that person come later on in life" (cleanching his hands against his chest trying to be dramatic) :P

@lewrock2k9
Oh, thanks for sharing! So that's what it must say if you don't have a (child-age) child yet... Interesting.
And that dramatic move of Finn's sounds as adorable as he always is. x3 Gotta love Finn.

W-wait...
Doesn't Ozzie sell King Salmon? Or are the Salmon and the King Salmon different fish?
PiplupPeanut 1 year ago
@PiplupPeanut
Oh, yep, they're definitely different. King Salmon, being one of the eight rare "King" fish, is much tougher to get. It can only be caught in Summer/Fall, during the nighttime, below the watermill in Flute Fields -- and it takes a great rod and a TON of stamina. x_X
RayofHope3579 1 year ago
@RayofHope3579 ...Shoot. D: I only have a level three rod. And it's BARELY level three. It's taking forever to level up. >.> It has to be a level five Harvest Goddess Rod, right?
...If it is, I'm ditching the New Game+ and am just going to make a new file. XD

@PiplupPeanut
Oh, no, Level 3 should be okay... At least, that's what Ushi no Tane says -- you'll only need to charge to 3.
But the material needs to be /at least/ Gold. I think Ozzie will actually tell you "above Gold" once you start the quest. (All the townspeople will be giving you hints about how to get the items you need.) Having Goddess would probably help a lot, but theoretically you could do it with Gold.
...But, sure, feel free to ditch the NG+! D= Spare yourself this depressingness!!
