★ Homeless, Cold and Scared ★

A Niagara Region woman who was forced from her home by the Children's Aid Society of Niagara in a court hearing back on Oct 31st 2011. Because she was unable to be in court that day due to being in a Hamilton Hospital due to a major operation was railroaded in a St. Catherine's courtroom by the Children's Aid. The Children's Aid asked the judge for a trade off, that the child could return home, but the mother would have to leave the house. The mother was not in the court room to have her say. The mother has now been living out of her van, sleeping in parking lots at night in 3c to -3c weather and getting colder as winter moves in, all while recuperating from major internal bleeding. She fears for her safety, her health and her life. The Child and Family Service of Niagara (FACS) has failed this family to the point it is now life or death sleeping outdoors in temps below 0c. What the CAS has done to this mother is neglect and dangerous. This is the reason the CAS in Ontario needs Ombudsman Oversight and to be taken out of the hands of these out of control private organization's and put into the hands of the Government of Ontario giving the system Accountability.

Homeless, Cold and Scared Niagara Mom goes home

We got word today, Lisa the lady on the video "Homeless, Cold and Scared" get's to go back home, CAS contacted her today and is now allowing her to go back home and live in the basement apartment and by the end of the week should be in the full home.

*We know CAS is on the pages and watching the videos. We believe that the video made with Lisa in her van may have opened the eyes of CAS Niagara. CAS stepped up and did the right thing today by allowing Lisa back home.

★ UPDATE Nov 23, 2011 12:53pm ★

Lisa is now in her Home and CAS says shes free to move withing the home and can now be with her child and husband. This is great news

  • We have given her that info, found a few places in our members home, but the lady had to much pride to take hand outs

  • and took advantage of her not being there and asked the judge if the mother is removed from her home, the child could come back to the home

  • she was in the hospital on that court date and was not there to defend herself and CAS know she could not make it because she just had a operation

  • hy was this not in the news?

  • It's being posted on Facebook that she has now been allowed to return home is this true?

  • Prior to accident I made an offer to have my daughter placed back at home in her step fathers care. I would have been able to make arrangments at that time. My daughter was left on the run for 17 days till after the accident and injury.

  • @occupied1111 agreed. and although the interviewer is obvioulsy not responsible, wouldn't an appeal to ask if someone can put her up for a few nights be in order? an appeal to her local church maybe? a church oughta be good for SOMEthing, after all; when is this next court date? if she does continue to sleep in her van without warmth, she will get sicker & maybe die. Someone's gotta put her up. Even the homeless here in Montreal have shelters for sleeping if they show up before curfew.

  • I watched this and still do not understand how missing a court date could force you from your home. A huge chunk of this poor soul's story is missing from this interview.
