This is a response to Vince Fumo's recent commercial in which he claims to be 'indispensble' to Philadelphia's fight for sensible gun laws. Unfortunately for Fumo and for the residents of Philadelphia, the facts to support Fumo's claims.

  • well if you take all citizens guns away, we need to disarm the police and military too, noone want to end up slaves of our own society (hint, you are already one)

  • Great video, nice job, take this guy down!

  • What we need is a judicial system that doesn't release violent criminals before the ink is wet on the conviction paperwork. Judges who go by the rule of law and not a liberal political agenda. Politicians who don't kowtow to knee jerk idiots with an anti Constitutional agenda. Prisons that are just that, Not a playground with cable, AC, Free College courses, porn mags and a home gym. See what the Sheriff of Maricopa Cty, AZ has done and tell me WHY haven't we done the same across the system.

  • A rose by any other name...

Yet in areas where there are less restrictive gun laws there is a significant lower rate of violent crime.

IN 1995 there were around 5000 Rapes reported in England and Wales. There has been a dramatic increase with 14,449 reported in 2004/05. Source: UK Home Office. How long has it been since the UK disarmed it's Law Abiding Citizens? Are the two connected?

Sorry, but you have taken the short cut in talking about the results from the 2003 CDC report (Evaluating the Effectiveness of Strategies for Preventing Violence: Firearms Laws). This is what they really said:

"The Task Force found insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of any of the firearms laws or combinations of laws reviewed on violent outcomes. (Note that insufficient evidence to determine effectiveness should not be interpreted as evidence of ineffectiveness.)

  • We need common sense gun laws that make it harder for criminals to get guns. New York and New Jersey have led the way with strong registration and background check requirements - that's why most of the guns used in crimes in those states come from out of state sources like PA.
